Prominent Ear Aesthetic
A prominent ear surgery (otoplasty) is s surgically method of reshaping the pinna or outer ear.
In general ears can be considered as prominent if they stand out more than 2 cm from the side of the head. Prominent ear surgeries are more common during childhood; usually after age of 5; but they are able to be performed on patients of any age.
Otoplasty techniques vary based on what kind of correction is needed. The specific technique will be determined by the surgeon. Your doctor might make incisions on n the backs of your ears and/or within the inner creases of the ears. After making incisions, the doctor might remove excess cartilage and skin and will then fold the cartilage into the proper position and secure it with internal stitches. Additional stitches will be used to close the incisions.
The post-operational process including recovery and expectable operative consequences varies as well as the process may show differences in general and/or detail from patient to patient.
This surgery type typically is performed as an outpatient procedure under general anaesthesia. Depending on the condition of the patient a 1 night overstay at the hospital is may required. You should schedule at least 4 days starting from the day of surgery before returning to your home country.
