Classic Buttock Augmentation vs. BBT – Brazilian Buttock Lift

Both surgically methods will increase the size and shape of buttocks.

While a Classic Buttock Augmentation will use buttock implants, which are silicone-filled and surgically placed deep within the tissues of the buttock;

A Brazilian Buttock Lift is a special surgically method using a fat transfer procedure; so it is method which does not require implants. The excess fat is therefore removed from the hips and/or abdomen and/or lower back and/or or thighs with liposuction, and a portion of this fat is then strategically injected into the buttocks.

BBT Results are immediately visible, but it will take 1 year to see the final result as it takes time for the body to form new blood vessels and truly incorporate the grafted fat.

There are risks like blood clots, sensation changes, and fat embolism (when fat is released into the blood stream). It has a low risk of infection and more important for most candidates is that if weight is gained it will grow accordingly. Number one requirement of being suitable for BBT is to have enough fat for a liposuction and transfer.

If not enough fat for a liposuction and a transfer is given, a classic buttock augmentation with implant may an option.

Both procedures have their advantages and disadvantages as well as their own possible risks and side effects. Therefore not every patient is suitable for one –or- even both of these procedures.

Though while consultation with the surgeon it is important to communicate expectation clearly and the surgeon will need to give clear and full picture about both procedures.

The post-operational process including recovery and expectable operative consequences varies as well as the process may show differences in general and/or detail from patient to patient.

Sitting or lying on the back is for at least 3 weeks post-operative forbidden. Especially for BBT sitting direct on the buttocks should be avoided at least 8 weeks post-operative.

This surgery types are typically performed under general anaesthesia. Depending on the condition of the patient a 1 night overstay at the hospital is may required for monitoring the first hours after the surgery.

You should schedule at least the number of days starting from the day of surgery before returning to your home country suggested by the surgeon after consultation.
