Eye Diseases of Children
The recommended times for examination of children's eyes are directly after birth, than at the age of six months and at age of four; before starting with school.
Besides these recommendations, periodically yearly eye examinations of schoolchildren performed by an ophtalmologist is important in order for early diagnosis and treatment of possible diseases.
The full vision of children develops until the age of 10-12. The most common eye disease of children are the problems with focussing and Strabismus (Cross Eye). If a lazy eye (amblyopia) is diagnosed early enough, optimal before age of 5, the treatment of lazy eyes is possible.
If your child rubs the eye/s, press the eyes together to read or bring the objects closer; or if there is a family history regarding eye diseases/disorders in general, please visit with your child an ophtalmologist.
AT TALYA MEDICAL CENTRE OUR SPECIALISTS FOR CHILDREN WILL INFORM YOU IN MORE DETAIL AFTER AN EXAMINATION.
