Alternative Methods to Excimer Laser

Not everybody using glasses or contact lenses are eligible for Excimer Laser Treatment.

40-50% of patients applying to our center for Excimer Laser Treatment are eligible for laser treatment.

Refractive Surgical Interventions Alternative to Excimer Laser Treatment:

1- Intraocular Lens Applications = PHAKIC-IOL applications

2- Refractive Lens Exchange

PHAKIC-IOL APPLICATION:

It is an alternative treatment method for patients whose corneal structure is eligible for Excimer Laser, who has high myopia, hypermetropia or astigmatism that cannot be treated successfully by Excimer Laser, and for those who do not want to use eyeglasses or contact lenses.

It is applicable for patients under 40 years of age with an advantage of being a reversible surgery.

It is performed under general anesthesia. There is a possibility of development of Glaucoma and cataract in the sense of patient's keeping his/her eyes still.Follow-up of the patient at certain periods is significant, and its being retractable is an important advantage in terms of the patient's eye health.

Patients who undergo PHAKIC-IOL attain a clear vision on the following day and patients state that it is the first time they can see such clearly.

REFRACTIVE INTRAOCULAR LENS EXCHANGE;

In patients whose cornea is not eligible for Excimer Laser or who has high powers of glasses that cannot be corrected by Excimer Laser, and particularly in patients above 40 years of age intraocular lens is removed and replaced by intraocular lenses which ensure multifocal distant, intermediate and near vision by FAKO method.

This method is irreversible; intraocular lenses can remain within the eye for life providing a permanent solution.

Myopia, hypermetropia, and also astigmatism can be treated by this method.
